THE STORY: We wanted to bounce our music off the world and see what the world thinks. So we uploaded some music onto a web site that lets people from around the world to listen and rate our music. One thing everyone seems to agree upon is we're a different kind of music. So here is what they had to say...
Save Me!
OK, I am in shell shock when Tom Waits meets Louis Armstrong scatting on acid.
You are some creative nut cases and I love you madly.
What they hey is happening with the bridge, when we suddenly start channeling Harry Belefonte? This is what I call original with a big fat O.
And then that instrumental thang in the middle. What is going on here? A little funk, a little blues, a little Hawaiian ukulele nuttiness, a little hilariousness. You are creative eclectic boogaloo kooks and I LOVE YOU.
No suggestions. How could I dare? You might cast a voodoo spell on my tired ass.
No seriously, everything here is in tight control - guitar, bass, drums, keys, vocals - but most of all originality and vision. I have no idea who you guys are but I want to hear more. Brilliant and original.
PS - If you are casting spells, I could use a new pad. Somewhere maybe Hollywood Hills or Mid Wilshire. See what you can do.

Sweeeeeeeet!
"This is just plain great!
Where to begin? Let's start with that wonderful groove. Very jazzy and syncopated, but subdued. It draws me right in. I totally dig the extended guitar chords, and the bass line fits it beautifully. It's not a flashy bass part, but it has a great feel, and in spite of it's basic nature, it is still interesting because of the deliberate choice of notes and rhythms to play.
The vocals are excellent. They are passionately executed, but I think that the vocal melody is what really sets them apart. It is never just stagnant, sitting on a single note. This is the kind of song you can sing in the shower. The real hook, to me, is the melody of the line "painted eyes". That little flourish flows into this song like melted butter. I'm waiting in anticipation of it after each verse.
I think the way you crescendo into each chorus is masterful. You don't often hear that done, and I don't know why. It's such an obvious thing to do, but I guess people just don't think to do it. Maybe they're too preoccupied by trying to get the loudest CD they possibly can. Who knows? At any rate, your use of that technique pushes this song into the stratosphere! The only thing about it, is it might be too apparent. I don't know if the audience should be consciously aware of the fact that you just got louder. You might want to make the volume swell a little bit more subtle. Of course, it works beautifully as is, so whether you change it or not is really a matter of preference.
Aside from these small issues, this is a fantastic song. Certainly one of, if not the, best songs I heard in the past few days. Great work!"

Good arrangement. The song makes sense, is performed well, and is short enough
to keep me coming back for more.

Fun pop music
Your song is from the old school of music for music sake. Sounds like your having
fun and isn't that all that counts. Keep on singing.

Can't quit snapping my fingers
This song is performed perfectly you guys are tight and on the mark. I like
the scat you through in there. The vocals are good for this song and really
help bring it to the next level. The song is putt together very well with some
nice surprises with the tempo and style changes.

Smile Inducer!!
this song Automatically brings a smile to your face. they should prescribe this
tune as an Anti- depressant!!! it has a Deadish- dylan Feel which really makes
you wanna shake them bones. the vocals are perfectly suited for this track and
sound quite Well. the over all arrangement is loose and that's the way it should
stay. it almost has a live feel to it and that's what gives this tune its charm.
A matter a fact i think i wanna hear this one again!!!

"What is this? definitely original sound, though it sounds like something
someone recorded in their own basement with a 4 track. wah wah could be used
more effectively. need compression on the song. nice arrangement though. overall,
just take this to a real studio and you have something."

"This is a cool song..
Work on the mix and sound, cause you've got something here."

Performance - pretty good
Vocals - really good, particularly for this kind of song.
Arrangement - some cheesy sounds here, but I like cheesy sounds..."

Great vibe
"I really like the rhythm of the guitar and the feel of the song. Great
keyboards as well. The lead vocals are descent, but they're very original sounding
so that's gotta count for something. I really dig the back up scat thing going
on too. Good looking out on that. Really like the break part, good solo. this
song makes me happy."

Original sounding
"This song is very original and sounds like the band pulls from a lot of
different influences. I like the interlude… it reminds me
of island music. It also has some surprise effects mixed in. The lead singer
vocal style reminds me of Chris Robins. I like all the instruments and effects
it gives the song a good up beat feel to it. This is a good song to just hang
out and have fun listening too."

To da' blues
"Very carnival type of feel which is good as it sounds like fun. These
guys are enjoying each instrument they are playing. They like the PERFORMANCE
ASPECT OF MUSIC.
The song form is logical and contains plenty of dynamics so THE ARRANGEMENT
IS COOL
THE VOCAL SOUNDS QUITE ORIGINAL."

Is this a trick question?
"Sometimes I go into pop rock and I don't understand why some songs are
here? I hear this more of an alternative song with a jazzy flavor to it. I would
not call it pop rock. I like the vocals but the mix could be a bit better..."

production?
great song very different to what is normally on this site. I love the sounds
you have picked for the guitar and the keyboard (apart from the key board solo
half way through) arent that great invest in a proper piano instead of midi
- Wynne_1

BnB: the keys area triton and
i believe that is a good set of keys? P.S. there is no midi anywhere in the
song. It was all recorded with a mic.

Hi
"ooh.. bongos. Nice. Lead vocals are fitting to the song, kinda laid back
and mellow.
ooh organ. Nice too. Good array
of instruments in this song.
the arrangement of the song is well done. Lot of different parts. good taste
in placing certain instruments in certain parts. Good piano work by the way.
the hook could be a lot of things in this song. so i'd say, whatever it is you
think the hook is, it's working.
good guitar solo too. Works well for the mood.
Nothing really to work on here."

Bluesy Jazzy Thang
"The lead vocals sound good..." "At first the phrasing reminded
me of Cat Stevens, but as the song went on the vocal tone was more like The
Black Crows. The arrangement sort of has one foot in a balladeer style (because
of the guitar) and the other foot in more blues oriented direction (because
of the organ)..."

awkward song indeed, is this ragae? the arrangement is good, the recording is

Wrong genre.
"This is obviously in the wrong category. Why put a funky, jazzy lightweight
acoustic-based song in the Rock genre? It certainly doesn't "rock".
It's more like a very lite jam-band alternative song. They really need to be
more categories here in XXXXXXX Land.
The song isn't bad, although not a style I have much interest in. You have a very "live" sound and the instruments are fairly well played. Vocals are pretty expressive and dynamic. The chord movement is predictable.
I'm sure a lot of people will relate to the chilled-out mellow nature of this track."

Nice Vibe

island feel. I like the arrangement the most, the instrumentation. Just enough
organ. Lead Vocals doesn't have to be mellow, he proves he has some soul. This
is a strong song."

Great Hook.
The piano, congas, and guitar intro really caught my attention quickly. I like
the addition of the organ working up into the chorus section. This is a pretty
good song, I could definitely listen to it again.
