Well hey all!
been a little while since I gave you all a break from BnB-Keys babble :) Figure I'll drop some words of invitation. Well we are all done our summer vacations. Beer-Lympics is coming up and the the big finally! The event that is looked forward to all year but yet brings a sadness as it marks the end of summer.
The Philadelphia Folk Fest! yes folks, August 25 to 29 for those hard core festers, but on the books as 26-28.
me I will be there at the gate at 12:00pm sharp that Thursday as they open the gates to paying customers.
I so dig on Fest (http://www.folkfest.org). Arlo will be there and it is the 40th anniversary of Alice's restaurant....I swear I will hear this song live someday and better darn well be this event!
Well Speaking of events, live music and fun. I/us/we will be performing twice this weekend and if you haven't made plans make them now cause BnB is live at the nail tonight! Also our most favorite of four to five hour shows is tomorrow night, where we promise to try to fit every single song we know into the nights festivities....no opening acts, no walk ons, just straight up BnB all night till 4am in the morning!
and maybe for the sick sake of life we'll take it to 4:20 :)
Well all I truly hope to see you all this weekend!
Man, I just wrote a longer version of the following post and lost it. I am not going to write as much this time, for fear of losing it all along the roadside of the information not-so-superhighway again, but here's the gyst (sp.?) of what I wrote:

Mr. POSTman
I am starting a new post. As a tangent to the blogging about BnB music, this thread of posts will be for those sticklers and pedants who like to pick posts apart looking for grammatical errors, spelling mistakes, typos and omissions (Hi there, KIM).

Here is the riddle for the day:
PLEASE PUNCTUATE THE FOLLOWING SENTENCE(S) CORRECTLY WITHOUT ADDING, DELETING, OR CHANGING ANY WORDS:

smith where jones had had had had had had had had had had the teachers approval

Source: The British version of the PRAXIS test, given to would-be teachers of English abroad.

THE FIRST CORRECT RESPONSE WINS A TUNA SURPRISE BEEF TACO TO SHARE WITH SPOONER STREET'S MALIK MCDONALD!

Here is the day's random musing:
OK, apostrophes can fill in for missing letters, as "can't" fills in for "cannot," " '77" stands for "1977," or "don't" shortens "do not." They can also show possession, as with "the lady's nine hats" or "the nine ladies' hats." So WHY do people put apostrophes in the plural of letter grades, as in, "I earned two C's this quarter," when no letters are omitted and the grades are not possessive (of anything but one's future ... he hehe)?
When I once asked this question, one of my students offered the example of the Oakland A's as an exception, but she didn't realize that the apostrophe in "A's" is filling in for the missing letters in "Athletics," so the team does not consist of several letter As running around, although it might have a few type-A personalities.
Now I know there are some words out there where the apostrophe is in the wrong place. Whenever I see one of these rare gems, I wonder whose bright idea it was to contract it as such. I'm asking you to post some of these contractions for me since, try as I might, I can't think of an example. It would be something like "would'nt" (if it wasn't actually "wouldn't"), where the apostrophe is not where the "o" would be, but somewhere else entirely. Hey ... that rhymed!

It wasn't where the "o" would be /
but somewhere else entirely

Just call me Tennyson, hah!
Well, good luck with the riddle and the trivia question. That Malik McDonald taco tastes a lot like it was raised by a cheetah, but it'll keep you warm at night.

/$(0tT

We here in BeatnikBrown are always talking about covers.
Should we play them or not if we do do we want to go mainstream or obscure?
now I have always been a fan of "Adapted" covers as I like to call them. A spin on a great song done just a bit different. So we started taking suggestion. Well Scott being the tenacious guy he is, Submitted this list.

Here are some obscure covers to play ... BnBKeys

1) Tribute by Tenacious D
2) Save Me by ?
3) Friday Night by G.Love & Special Sauce
4) Rodeo Clowns by Jack Johnson
5) Hook by Blues Traveler
6) Where It's At by Beck
7) Feelin' Alright by Joe thingyer
8) High Plains Difter by the Beastie Boys
9) Axel F from Beverly Hills Cop
10) Cissy Strut by The Meters
11) I Wish by Stevie Wonder
12) Doin' Time by Sublime
13) Summertime by Will Smith
14) Love Is (What I Got) by Sublime
15) Fire on the Mountain by the Grateful Dead
16) Exit by U2
17) #41 by Dave Matthews Band

what's funny is this is a list of the covers we already play :)
but I was taken by surprise as I had never really seen our cover tailed before and if you think about it, that really is a list of some obscure covers......
So we now open the floor to suggestions - whadda ya think some em & em in there next????? - JB
