Yep you read that right, we have decided that ok we'll finally put together that press pack - like we need anymore gigs.....hahahaha - but really I just want that really cool 5 by 7 color glossy photo....Seriously we going to get some photos - the big request for the website, promotional trinkets and such and let you in.....Hey were even going to head into the studio. Yep you heard me right - tired of those live show performances CD's??? we're going to drop coin and get a REAL Demo........
So what's my point? well a buddy of mine from work (Steve if you must know, only other musician at my company) was like I'll give you some advice I learned online. Stay away from Brick Walls, Train Tracks and some other I forget now.....so I go wow such insight. How do you know the number one place to take pictures is in front of a brick wall......

Well hello,
Today i guess i'm just in a chatt'n mood and whats on my mind. The philly music scene....
one, it is hard to get large amount of people out to show and quite another to do it consistantly. Thats where you network of people, friends and to our astonishment other bands come in. Our past show at Brwnies 38 - The Chestnut Room showed us what the local music scene should be about. So a big props to Show 'n Tell band. They came out to support us (and do some promotion of their own) but how cool! These guys work and work for the music. Along with that i got to spend a great deal of time talking with the guys from The Deciples of Groove and hopefully our network grows.

I guess my point is props to all the bands that are not only great music but great people as well....

Well if your hear reading this then I guess you've seen our live page :)
let the gigs pour in......BnB has been starting a buzz or a murmur at least. We're getting good reputation of good music, fun time and working relation ship with the owners and bookers. You know when you play your first gig in an entirely new place let along area and the agent whips their book out and books you for the next couple of months. They must have liked something. That being said. When is gigs just to many gigs?
This is a very hard question to answer. What line to balance between personal, work and music is hard enough but when gigs line up two and three within 7-8 days? Is it when you talk to a fan and mention the next gig and they say isn't that like tomorrow? Not only wearing out fans but what about the band it self?
Well with that all in your head I hope to see all of your smiling faces at The Chestnut Room at Brownies 38th tonight!!!!!

The real BnB :)

A hearty “thanks” to all those who have come out to support us this fall. We had a rockin’ night at the Clubhouse on 9/24, a fun time with Showin’ Tell & Barakus at The Five Spot on 9/28, and we loved playing on a great stage & bar set-up at a new venue when we played all night at Double D’s Saloon in Vineland, NJ, this past Saturday, 10/1.

We know it’s a bit of a hike for our Philly Phriends & Phans to get to Vineland, but if there’s any way you can get to this bar when we play there November 5 or December 10, you MUST see this place!!! The bar has a “brand new” feel to it, probably because the poker, blackjack & slots ARE brand new. The overall set-up is nice and original, with pool tables and a sports bar feel in one room, and a cool lounge-scene with live music in another. Take a bus, train, plane or car & get out to Double D’s for a good time with BeatnikBrown playing ALL NIGHT LONG this winter. Maybe we’ll even pull out some Def Lepperd to fit the Jersey scene!

WE NEED YOUR SUPPORT — come out to Brownie’s on 38th street to see the BnB boys this Thursday night! We’d love to pull a good crowd to this place & get invited back. You can help. Come on out and start the weekend a little early with BeatnikBrown, going on stage at 10 p.m. sharp!

Luv'n ya all! - BnB

Well, there're lots of gigs comin' up early this fall!
While the FiveSpot feels like a great new place for us to get down and funky, the Nail is always a fun place to jam, Brownie's will be an exciting new show for us, and the Fire will be a welcome return to a venue that always inspires our creative side ... what could really be called our home stage other than The Clubhouse?

We let loose when we play there because the fun & responsive crowd lets us. After hours at this place has to be seen firsthand! The more ya dance, the more we'll funk it up for you guys (we love that crowd).

Well, that's where we'll be this weekend. BnB plans to bring out the new shizzzzzzzzzz at a place where people know how to party & get down! Oh, you WILL dance Saturday September 24 @ The Clubhouse, Summit Appartments on Henry Ave.

We'll be playing with our good friends Spooner Street (ROCK!) which I think gets its name from the street from Family Guy (?) — cool people to jam with, cool people in the bar & beer prices too cheap to mention ... sounds like a party to me!

(READ: Man, I'm there. You there?)

Hey. It's ... you! It's been a little while since we last blogged together, you & I ... sorry we've been too busy to write! Tell you what, I promise we'll call you soon. Does that work for you?

It's just that we've been busy with some new material, and while we've been pleased with how quickly this new round of songs is coming to us, it has kept us all very busy. For those of you who have been supporting us for a while now, we thank you for continuing to listen to us play through the same songs as we work on them, and for bearing with us while we work out the new shizzz. We will repay you this fall by bringing out a lot of good new music — some funky & catchy originals and some danceable cover songs are in the works and we are excited to bring them out live. Here's a glimpse into what's new with us right now:

We've been promising "La Grange" to some of you (you know who you are...) and it's almost there. Wait 'til you see Jason rip into Z.Z. Top — I sh*t you not!

Just wait 'til you see my (oh!). Just a heads up for those of you trying to "Hit That Shhh" at the Clubhouse: it's gonna be on like Donkey Kong! Septmber 24 (Saturday) we'll be laying down the funkin'-dance-party-USA-style-BnB at this after-hours bar with beer prices too cheap for me to mention online for fear of a stampede ... if you hang out there you know you want to keep that place to yourself. It's a great time & we've got Spooner Street out there before us getting the crowd pumped on the 24th! Can't wait! :)

"Pale Blue House," a new Jason original with great potential for a studio project, is in the works for debut September or October, and another Dave-written opus known affectionately as "WFS" is close behind.

We've had great shows at places where people dance. The Five Spot crowd sheds its inhibitions and gets down & that only makes us play better. We're looking forward to gigging there with Showin' Tell September 28 and then tearing the roof off there at 11 p.m. on the busiest bar night of the year, the night before Thanksgiving (11/23). For you guys & gals who get down with us between 2nd & 3rd St. groovin' to Stevie Wonder, wait until you get a load of Prince and Parliament — done with that unique BnB flavor.

New songs are coming to us more quickly as we gain more experience playing together. Jeremy's drumming has been phenomenal this summer and fall, and the band has been playing at some venues new to us (The Five Spot, Club 218) with the same swagger it brings to a regular, more comfortable gig like the Clubhouse.

Like the sign says, a band can't go out there and play scared to make mistakes. If we're thinking about all the things that could go wrong (or getting hung up on the little things that go wrong — which will almost ALWAYS happen with live music) we won't play as well as we would if we were to go into every show with the right frame of mind, confidence and looseness. The goal is for everybody to have fun and the more fun we have, the better we play. Mind over matter, baby!

I hope you will be free some time to get down with us this fall. We'd love to see you ... and if you want a free T-Shirt too, check out the trivia question below.

Nice to funk you,
BeatnikBrown
(BnBKeys)
